How to Handle a Gun Safely
Rules of Safe Gun Handling
Guns are dangerous and if not handled carefully, can kill or mutilate you or someone else. The consequences of the misuse of guns are disastrous. Handling them in a safe way is the top priority once you own a gun.
Remember to check the gun
Make sure to always check if the gun is loaded, even if you know that it is unloaded. Make a visual inspection of the gun every time you hand it over to someone. Check if there’s a bullet hiding inside the gun.
Your gun should be kept pointed in a safe direction and your finger off the trigger
Be cautious to keep your gun pointed in the safe direction while making an inspection, reloading or cleaning it. Pointing it towards the ground is considered to be safe.
Don’t place your finger on the trigger unless you’re ready to fire. You can rest the trigger finger on the trigger guard. Sometimes, an unnecessary external force might make you push the trigger by mistake when you’re not anywhere closer to the target.
