DUI Checkpoints: Searched without consent while innocent (HAPPY LATE 4th!)

Posted 07/08/2014 1:18 pm by

Here is an interesting video of an outright violation of a man’s rights caught on camera.

What has this got to do with prepping?  Quite a bit if you think about it.  DUI checkpoints are more about conditioning people to accept forfeiture of our 4th amendment rights than they are about catching drunk drivers.  If we as a society can be conditioned to accept this sort of abuse of our Constitutionally affirmed, God given natural rights, to be secure in our persons, papers, houses and effects, then how far can a police state actually go?

“If you’ve done nothing wrong, then what have you got to worry about?”

This is one of the most ridiculous excuses (phrased as a question) that statists and apathetic individuals use to explain away our rights.  Why?  Maybe because they don’t care about their rights or our rights, or maybe because their false sense of security is more important to them than their freedom.  But it is also a highly selfish excuse on their part because it is a complete disregard of everyone else’s rights.  Just because you don’t care about your rights doesn’t mean that I don’t care about mine.  I happen to like my liberty and I would like to keep it.

It’s also a very ignorant excuse because it doesn’t address the real issue.  It’s a question that needs to be modified a bit for a better understanding of what we are really giving up when we allow a blatant assault on our freedoms.

Next time someone asks that question, rephrase it for them:  “If what I am doing today, (which is a perfectly legal part of my everyday life), could one day be made illegal, then what have I got to worry about?”

The answer is “I’ve got everything to worry about”

There should be no excuse for this kind of violation of our rights.  Not ever.

Could DUI checkpoints one day be used to confiscate these items?

Here are just a few things that could one day be made illegal in this country (some already are in many countries, don’t think it won’t happen here)

What’s your vice? A lot of people already would like to make these illegal.

  • Cigarettes
  • Coffee
  • Candy
  • High fructose carbonated sodas
  • Your favorite swimsuit issue (or other adult oriented paraphernalia)

Personal defense items

  • Guns
  • Knives
  • Stun guns
  • Pepper Spray

There really is no limit to what the government will do to try to regulate and control our lives.  Just ask your parents and grandparents how much more freedom they used to have.  I don’t want freedom to be something that we only read about in contraband history books.
