Purveyors of fake news warn of dangers of fake news
It’s not “good reporting” that has The Washington Post leading the pack in the establishment’s crusade against “fake news.” Nor is it a coincidence.
Recall that it was The Post that first led with an article that included a report from an obscure and previously unknown website site that listed alternative news sources that were ostensibly spreading “Russian propaganda” by creating and publishing “misleading articles online with the goal of punishing Democrat Hillary Clinton, helping Republican Donald Trump and undermining faith in American democracy.”
Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos also happens to own Amazon, which in 2013 signed a $600 million deal with the CIA for Amazon to provide cloud services for all 17 agencies in the U.S. intelligence community. So in essence, Bezos is owned by the CIA and, by extension, so is The Post and Amazon.
We also note that Bezos was under the U.S. government control long before he signed the deal with the CIA. In 2010, just after WikiLeaks dumped a series of embarrassing State Department cables, Amazon pulled the plug on hosting WikiLeaks’ website following a call from Senator Joe Lieberman, then chairman of the senate’s committee on Homeland Security.
For his part, WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange has denied Russian involvement and no concrete proof of Russia’s involvement has been released. And the FBI’s not buying the story of Russian involvement.
The CIA reportedly briefed “key senators” last week on its findings from its investigation into alleged Russian propaganda sites and leaks of Democrat National Committee emails to WikiLeaks. But even that report contained weasel words, indicating the CIA was speculating at best and making the whole thing up at worst.
The CIA knows a thing or two about fake news. As Bob Livingston reported in “The battle for your mind,” the agency has for years controlled journalists around the world, a fact revealed by former German journalist Dr. Udo Ulfkotte in 2014.
In his book, Ulfkotte claimed that most of the major national journalists work for intelligence agencies like the CIA, Germany’s Bundasnachrichtendienst (BND), Israel’s Mossad and Great Britain’s MI6.
Dr. Udo Ulfkotte told American Free Press that “typically, intelligence agencies use ‘unofficial covers’ — people working for the agency but not actually on its payroll as agents. It is a broad, loose network of ‘friends,’ doing one another favors. Many are lead journalists from numerous countries. This informality provides plausible deniability for both sides, but it means an ‘unofficial cover,’ as Ulfkotte became, is on his own if captured.”
Reporters get large sums of money, gifts, public recognition, significant career advancement and open doors to the elite policymakers in the Trilateral Commission (an arm of the CFR), Atlantik-Brücke, the Aspen Institute and German Marshall Fund of the United States in exchange for information obtained through spying. Those who don’t cooperate are fired.
Utfkottee told RT: “We’re talking about puppets on a string, journalists who write or say whatever their masters tell them to say or write. If you see how the mainstream media is reporting about the Ukraine conflict and if you know what’s really going on, you get the picture. The masters in the background are pushing for war with Russia and western journalists are putting on their helmets… I’m ashamed I was part of it. Unfortunately I cannot reverse this. Although my superiors at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung approved of what I did, I’m still to blame. But yes, to my knowledge I am the first to accuse myself and to prove many others are to blame.”
The CIA established a campaign called Operation Mockingbird in the 1950s that ran at least through the 1970’s (but is likely still running under other names) to influence media. Reporter Carl Bernstein reported on the CIA’s use of journalists to both gather intelligence and spread propaganda in a report that appeared in Rolling Stone in 1977.
Among the “journalists” known to work or have worked for the CIA include CNN’s Anderson Cooper, National Review founder William F. Buckley, Ms. Magazine founder Gloria Steinem and AP CIA “reporter” Ken Dilanian.
The CIA was behind reports – later proven false – that Osama bin Laden orchestrated the 9/11 attacks and that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction ready to use on the U.S. (reports used to lead us into a war that continues 15 years later). It covered up its contribution to the rise of ISIS and its gun-running operation through the Benghazi, Libya compound to so-called “moderate” Syrian rebels that turned into ISIS.
Senator John McCain – along with his partner-in-crime Senator Chuck Schumer — took to the Sunday talk shows yesterday to claim there is no question the Russian government launched cyberattacks against “American political targets,” by which he meant the DNC and the Republican National Committee.
McCain, in addition to being photographed standing alongside ISIS fighters he claimed were “moderate rebels,” also regularly touted the now-discredited claim that Syria was responsible for a chemical attack during the run-up to President Barack Obama’s attempt to get congressional approval for a U.S. attack on Syria’s president.
McCain also is also known to have lied about his time in the North Vietnamese prison camp and he was involved in the Keating 5 Savings and Loan scandal in which he intervened with banking regulators on behalf of his buddy and benefactor, Charles Keating. How it is that McCain continues in public office, much less is held up as a person of any credibility, demonstrates the power the media machine has in molding public opinion.
Justin Raimondo of Antiwar.com lays out why the CIA is behind what he calls an attempted coup against Trump:
The Saudis, having given millions to the Clinton Foundation, along with their Gulf state allies, were counting on a Clinton victory. The CIA has a longstanding relationship with Riyadh, and together they have been working assiduously to not only overthrow Assad in Syria but to forge a “moderate” Sunni alliance that will effectively police the region while establishing the Saudis as the regional hegemon. This was the Clintonian strategy while Hillary was at the helm of Foggy Bottom: Libya, Syria, the alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, are all examples of this utterly disastrous “Sunni turn.”
Trump represents a threat to this grand design, and therefore has to be stopped by whatever means necessary. His desire to “get along with Russia,” his opposition to regime change in Syria, his critique of the Libyan misadventure, his foreign policy stance in general – all this meant that he would come to power and “drain the swamp” of the CIA and the State Department.
The irony here is that the accusation leveled at Trump – that his historic victory represents a successful attempt by a foreign power to take control of the White House – is a classic case of projection. What we are witnessing is a joint CIA-Saudi operation to overthrow the duly elected President of the United States.
In a recent speech given on his “victory tour,” Trump said the following:
“We will pursue a new foreign policy that finally learns from the mistakes of the past. We will stop looking to topple regimes and overthrow governments. Our goal is stability not chaos.”
For the whole of its existence, the CIA has been in the business of toppling regimes that didn’t bow to Washington’s dictates, from Guatemala to Iran to Chile and on and on. The production of chaos is their whole reason for existing. Trump would effectively put them out of business. No wonder they want to destroy him.
