CBS Sunday Morning special contributor Ted Koppel is well-known for his promotion of state-sponsored talking points during his 25-year long career as the anchor of ABC’s Nightline. Now Koppel is back in the headlines after interviewing Fox News’ Sean Hannity on CBS Sunday Morning and not airing the full segment.
Constitutional Carry is on the move in South Carolina. On March 9th, H. 3930, a passed the Judiciary Constitutional Laws Subcommittee. On 21 March, it passed the full committee by a vote of 15 to 7. It will now advance to a vote before the full House. Last year a similar bill passed the House, but died in the Senate.
Gorsuch missed an opportunity to provide his interrogator, to use Obama’s pet phrase, with “a teaching moment.” He should have pointed out that judging by present eccentric standards of political correctness, everyone in the past was a bigot. Aristotle, Immanuel Kant, FDR, Harry Truman, Karl Abraham Lincoln, and JFK. Which one of these now honored figures believed in gay rights, interchangeable gender roles or the right of a young man who says that he/she’s a woman to have access to girls’ showers in a public school. Which one of these figures would have defended the inalienable constitutional right of an illegal immigrant and felon not to be deported, the way Feinstein’s constituents do?
Loyola University Chicago offers a campus club “for self-identified White students” to admit their own racist feelings and to complain about the racism they perceive around themselves. The segregated “affinity group,” called Ramblers Analyzing Whiteness, allows all students “who self-identify as White” to talk about their “anger and confusion about institutional racism” and to confess “guilt and hope about internalized racism.” Members can also “examine what it means to be White” and “begin the journey of operating in solidarity with others and their privilege.”
The political parties are an illusion, but there is one thing that is not illusory: the absolute desire of government to rule without the consent of the governed and to relegate the governed to a position barely above that of cattle. The President needs to take the gloves off and throw the Marquis of Queensbury rules aside in order to win. We the People need to help him do it. If not, we’re going to lose this country even before the next presidential election and fall into the hands of the globalists. Should that happen, all our freedoms will die, and so will we as a nation. The time to act is now, and the responsibility to act is ours.
Unfortunately, our society is in a period of transition in which the public is skeptical of mainstream media influences, but still pays attention to them. While people are rapidly abandoning these “news sources” for more independent fair, this may be too little too late. As I have outlined above, there are numerous questions which are never asked; numerous solutions that are never presented. The majority remains oblivious to true options and true actions. They remain oblivious to certain truths. The mainstream may have already done all the damage it can do. All that is left is for alternative analysts to pick up the pieces, ask the right questions, fight for the right causes and see if we can salvage this mess in time.
I believe I first heard the term “political correctness” used on a Saturday Night Live show back in about 1980. And I thought it was just a joke—like most of the things on SNL. But it turned out to be a real thing, and it’s been building momentum, for at least the last two generations. Where is it going to end? I’m not sure, but it’s just one more termite eating away at the foundations of Western civilization itself. People that go along with this stuff aren’t just crazy. They’re actually evil. They’re the same types who rallied around Robespierre during the French revolution, Lenin during the Russian Revolution, Hitler in ‘30s Germany, and Mao in China. It’s a certain personality type.
We have a bloated, invasive, intrusive, destructive monstrosity called the U.S. federal government that is out of control. When are the Republicans going to do something about it? We have a welfare state that LBJ could only have dreamed of. When are the Republicans going to do something about it? We have a national debt approaching $20 trillion. When are the Republicans going to do something about it? We have a federal budget of $4 trillion. When are the Republicans going to do something about it? The Constitution is violated on a daily basis. When are the Republicans going to do something about it?
“Approximately half of adult Americans’ photographs are stored in facial recognition databases that can be accessed by the FBI, without their knowledge or consent, in the hunt for suspected criminals,” reported The Guardian on Monday. -- “About 80% of photos in the FBI’s network are non-criminal entries, including pictures from driver’s licenses and passports.
Former Labor Secretary Tom Perez, who took over as the chair of the Democratic National Committee in late February following Hillary's stunning November defeat, has asked for his entire staff to submit their resignation letters by no later than April 15th.
Following a massive uptick in the number of cellphone and laptop searches conducted at U.S. border checkpoints, a public interest group is suing the government for answers. Earlier this month, reports surfaced revealing that the number of times Customs and Border Protection agents searched electronic devices jumped exponentially over the past couple of years.
Twitter has upped its censorship game and is now blocking certain terms from showing up on the platform’s built-in search engine. The added filters are part of the company’s plans to reduce harassment on the service. Some of these filters were deployed earlier this month when users were given the option to mute certain types of accounts.
Three teenagers who were dressed in black and wore masks and gloves broke into a home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, in broad daylight. All three were shot dead by the homeowner’s son. Investigators haven’t released the names of anyone involved, but say the deceased suspects are between 16 and 18 years old. One of the suspects had a knife and another had brass knuckles.
As with many another complex, opaque systems in the U.S., only those toiling in the murky depths of the healthcare system know just how broken the entire system is. Only those dealing daily with the perverse incentives, the Kafkaesque procedures, the endlessly negative unintended consequences, the soul-deadening paper-shuffling, the myriad forms of fraud, the recalcitrant patients who don’t follow recommendations but demand to be magically returned to health anyway, and of course the hopelessness of the financial future of a system with runaway costs, a rapidly aging populace and profiteering cartels focused on maintaining their rackets regardless of the cost to the nation or the health of its people.
As history teaches, an arms race will never make anybody victorious. Nobody gains, everybody loses. It took a series of risky crises, like the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, and several cycles of an extremely costly arms race to realize how dangerous the nuclear threat is. The history of arms control reveals the wisdom of Soviet (Russian) and US leaders finding ways to cap their arsenals even in the heat of the Cold War. Now all the efforts applied in the past may go down the drain as the US is going back to the once tried policy of seeking nuclear dominance. Now it starts again at the time the whole system of arms control is on the brink of collapse. The tide must be turned. Nuclear arms control treaties should have become a top priority of the bilateral relationship.
A new law quietly passed last December contains a waiver of informed consent that eliminates the requirement of pharmaceutical companies to let you know if a medication or vaccine given to you or your child is experimental. -- Wow. One last Christmas surprise from President Obama.
I envision a lot of law-abiding citizens being approached by security and then being asked to leave the property, simply for concealing their legal firearm. Alternatively, they could be asked to leave their firearm in their car, opening it up to theft. Or, as many casinos have, they will let visitors store their firearm in a safe deposit box on property. Lots of good it’ll do, though, if you need it.
I have no need to control my appliances by voice command. I have no need to monitor them. I am not going to pay for the privilege of having government agencies and private companies invade my home and record my activities. I suggest you adopt the same attitude.
