If you haven’t heard, California is expected to vote on several gun-related measures in this upcoming November elections. The measures proposed by Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom have stirred up a bit of controversy as gunowners are beginning to wonder if they have any right to keep California government out of their homes.
Film producer Katie Couric and her director Stephanie Soechtig edited their anti-gun documentary Under the Gun in order to make a gun rights group in Virginia look as if they couldn’t answer a simple question. They’re now facing a $12 million defamation lawsuit, according to documents provided to Bearing Arms.
It’s fashionable at present, to assert that the Second Amendment makes some allowance for “reasonable regulation” of the individual right to own and carry weapons, even though the word “regulate” carries a very different meaning today than it did in the 18th century. It does no such thing. Instead, it outlaws any “infringement” of that right, which means sneaking up on it and nibbling it away, a little bit at a time. Regulation is infringement, and no gun law of any kind is tolerable to a free people.
"It's not a police issue, it's a society issue," Johnson told reporters outside police headquarters after a long weekend that saw 65 people shot, 13 of them fatally. --"Impoverished neighborhoods, people without hope do these kinds of things," he said. "You show me a man that doesn't have hope, I'll show you one that's willing to pick up a gun and do anything with it. (BUT.... BUT.... GUN CONTROL!!!)
After multiple break-ins to his home, one homeowner decided to upgrade with a motion sensor system. This system lets him know if someone is moving around outside his house. Sometimes, it’s the only warning we get. In this case, it was all the warning he needed.
It’s no surprise that Clinton’s political incentive is to keep the border porous, and to usher in more new “pathway to citizenship” Democrats. If she wins the presidency, federal and Supreme Court appointments will be hers to make, and you’d better believe an upheld “assault weapon” ban, along with a reversal of Heller and McDonald, will be tops on her agenda.
Donald Trump was widely criticized by media, Democrats, and even some Republicans after he made a joke regarding Second Amendment remedies to Hillary Clinton’s plan to “essentially abolish” the Second Amendment. -- As if “reporters,” commentators, and politicians were all reading from the same script, they consistently pointed out that Clinton had no such intentions – in spite of the fact that this is exactly what she intends to do.
A professor at Johns Hopkins University is urging lawmakers to consider creating new gun laws which require American senior citizens to take competency tests to prove that they are stable enough to own firearms.
The government has no right to fiddle-fart around with peoples’ rights to own firearms. Excuse me, but does anyone know that the Wounded Knee Massacre was the result of a gun confiscation scheme? The government went to take away the firearms and bows of some starving, freezing Native Americans who weren’t bothering anyone. And, rather conveniently, the government had on hand a couple mountain howitzers to make sure the women and children died along with the men as per policy. Right, they made the world safe from compassion.
It is sad that Europeans have been so disarmed that they must literally ask their government for permission to defend themselves, but that reality will not stop people from doing what it takes to protect themselves and their community.
Two North Carolina girls, home alone, bravely fought off a group of home invaders that came by expecting easy pickings. One of the girls, a teenager, got a rifle and pointed it at the first guy to come in the door. All three home invaders realized there wasn’t nothing in the house worth dying over and fled the scene.
Using the Courts to subjectively reinterpret the Constitution, and subsequently bypass it…under the “color of law” upheld by justices in black robes…less than a dozen, who decide the fate of 315 million Americans. The battle for the 2nd Amendment is far from over for the moment, and the election will determine how that battle will proceed.
For one Kentucky homeowner returning home to see his home was being burglarized, he was glad to have his gun on hand to defend his life and his property. What he wasn’t expecting, though, was to also have to defend the life of his dog.
43-year-old Patrick Dewayne Decker is no stranger to violence. Convicted of charges ranging from rape to kidnapping and assault, it’s not a far fetched notion to think something like a restraining order would be any obstacle for him. That’s why his ex-girlfriend got a gun. It all came down to a simple choice: her and her son or Decker. She chose herself and her son. She chose right.
The trend is likely to continue as the 2016 presidential election season wears on, driven largely by fears over Hillary Clinton’s increasingly anti-2nd Amendment rhetoric and promises to reinstate the “assault weapons” ban if elected.
The media never see a rifle that is not an assault rifle. This is not because rifles are inherently not defense rifles. There are no “defense rifles.” This is because the phrase “assault rifle” is the initial phase of another round of calls for gun control laws.
During an altercation outside a club, a man pulled a gun and began firing indiscriminately into a crowd of onlookers. The bad guy struck no less than three innocent people before one of the innocents who was taking fire was able to use his legally carried firearm to stop the madness. The good guy wounded the would-be mass shooter before he was able to actually kill anyone. Fortunately, all of the shooter’s victims will survive, but if all of those club-goers had taken the left’s advice on personal protection, some would surely be dead.
"The recent surge in gun buying is based on two variables: fear of government intrusion on 2nd Amendment rights, and, more importantly, people interested in personal protection," he said. "This is likely the beginning of a long rise in gun sales leading up the election. Should Hillary Clinton take a significant lead, it will only boost these sales."
“Progressive” media is now celebrating both Hillary’s victory with the false meme that she’s been “cleared” (they did the same thing with Eric Holder on Fast and Furious), and a new chance to stick it to gun owners. What none of them in government and media seem to get is giving a pass to corrupt elite officials, while infringing on the fundamental rights of people without such connections, is so intentionally arrogant and reckless as to be downright dangerous.
The frontman for thrash-metal band Slayer was filmed at a recent concert in Switzerland delivering a pro-gun speech. Tom Araya, the band’s singer and bassist, praised the country’s gun culture while warning against the dangers of a disarmed populace.
A mayor in Florida is urging his citizens to arm up and take personal responsibility for their own safety. It’s not an exit strategy from developing a more robust law enforcement strategy to combat highly-publicized shootings like the Orlando Pulse nightclub incident, but it is an honest push to get people to consider self-defense on a new level.
If you look all the new gun ban laws, the anti-gun Democrats are proposing and applied them universally back, say ten years ago. Not ONE mass shooting would have been prevented. Not ONE. Not one life would have been saved. Not ONE of these new laws would have stopped the shooting in Orlando.
Gun sales are on a pace to break last year's record of more than 23 million, a boon to the U.S. industry and gun stores thanks to election-year worries about gun control and recent terror attacks, according to government figures and experts.
Entertainment doesn’t come much richer than elderly politicians fattened on our taxes and their own self-importance creakily collapsing to the floor of the House of Representatives. Oh, the awkwardness and obvious discomfort! And yet, viva la 1960s! Only tie-dye and love beads are missing as these Congressional cretins vie once again to repeal the Second Amendment without the bother of actually doing so.
In the wake of the Orlando shooting, the corporate TV news networks have gone into overdrive to hammer the same talking point on the desperate need for gun control legislation to be pushed, despite the fact that it is easily provable that such legislation would not have prevented the massacre.
With his recent comments, Manchin has displayed a gross disrespect for one of the most basic protections our constitution affords. Sadly, given the clamor in the U.S. Congress for renewed gun control measures, this disrespect appears to infect more than just a few of our elected representatives.
So Homeland Security, which has yet to find a potential terrorist despite stationing thousands of rapists and gropers and luggage thieves at airports, and which has lost almost 500,000 immigrants who have overstayed their visas, and which cannot will not control the borders, and which consistently turns loose unvetted illegal aliens that fall into its hands by shipping them to various states on buses, and which contracted with a “security agency” for which the accused Orlando shooter worked transporting said illegal aliens, and which ignored the shooter’s multiple trips to Saudi Arabia – the chief funder of terrorism – and ties to a radical mosque that has produced at least one suicide bomber, is going to be in charge of creating ways to minimize the opportunity for terrorists to get a gun in the country? Terrorists everywhere heard this news and rejoiced.
A Texas firing range offering free concealed handgun courses to members of the LGBT community has had to open several new classes after being inundated with requests for lessons. Owners of the Shiloh Gun Range on the outskirts of Houston say they’re doing their part to ensure their fellow Americans have the means to protect themselves following the tragedy that struck Orlando over the weekend.
A robber looking to hit an easy mark picked the wrong guy stepping out of a Mexican restaurant in Beaumont, Texas. According to Beaumont Police, the target happened to be legally licensed to carry a concealed handgun and used it to open fire on the man attempting to rob him. The suspect was taken to the hospital and listed in critical trauma with a bullet wound to his abdomen. Beaumont Police say the concealed carrier did nothing wrong.
Most of the mass killings by gun in the United States in recent years — Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora, Newtown, Charleston, San Bernardino and now Orlando — took place in venues where local or state law prohibited carrying guns, even by those lawfully licensed to do so. The government cheerfully calls these venues “gun-free zones.” They should be called killing zones.
It seemed like the thieves pretty much surrendered without much protest. After all, this was the same dude from the same truck they had robbed earlier and now he was on their proverbial doorstep with a loaded handgun.
What people like Schaefer and Couric have to gain by taking away that insurance policy is anyone’s guess. Most likely, their attitudes toward firearms are a reactionary consequence of insulation from life in the real world and a desire to create some utopian liberal society that will never exist on this planet.
A good guy with a gun tried to stop a mass shooting which took place over Memorial Day weekend at a car wash and tire store in Houston. The news has been strangely mum about it and the details surrounding the story seem awash with obvious omissions.
Even Presidential candidate Donald Trump has brought the issue to the forefront, with a renewed push to get a concealed carry license issued by any state to be accepted by all states — just like a driver’s license.
There is NO evidence to support the assertion that law enforcement officers are put at risk by law-abiding citizens carrying concealed firearms in their car. There are no studies, even ones with twisted statistics, that draw this conclusion. How can that be? Because there is NO record of a law enforcement officers having been injured by a CCW permit holder during a traffic stop, anywhere in the 44 CCW states. We can, on the other hand, offer numerous examples of armed citizens coming to the aid of officers in peril...
While Obama has sought to restrict access to firearms, his presidency has helped swell the NRA’s membership rolls and spark record revenues for gun companies. Now, some in the industry think Clinton would be an even better gun “salesman” than Obama.
Standing by and watching a violent crime take place and doing absolutely nothing — that’s a “gun free zone” mentality. Thankfully, at least one off-duty police in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts demonstrated a willingness to intercede and stop it.
Call it “keeping illegal guns off the street” or call it what it really is, it makes no difference to San Jose politicians. San Jose City Council wants to enact a new measure that will further tie homeowners’ hands behind their proverbial backs. Under the “gun violence prevention ordinance”, practically hand-drafted by lobbyists for gun control movements in California, gun owners in San Jose will face new severe, strict ordinances that promise to make outlaws of law-abiding, armed citizens.
In other words, gun-free zones or gun-restricted zones were the targets of choice. This flies in the face of the 21st-century gun control movement’s claims that gun-free zones do not endanger innocents. It exposes the fallacy of arguments that present attackers as uninterested parties who choose a target by chance, never taking into account whether that target contains people who can shoot back.
Three burglars were confronted by a business owner who discovered them loading one of his air compressors onto the back of their truck. When he confronted them, one of the burglars advanced towards him and the owner shot him in the chest and legs. The other two fled the scene immediately.
If anything, this proposal would do more to push law-abiding gun owners out of the state. For those who can’t afford to pack up and move, they would then be classified as criminals if the police caught them with even one magazine that met Newsom’s definition. Defending your home and you shoot a home intruder? -- “Well, sir, let’s see your gun… Oh, I see this gun holds more than 10 rounds. Come with us to the station.”
In Venezuela, their government is so afraid of them that they are willing to send their police officers out to round up and destroy any remaining guns left. The government is also willing to force them into indentured servitude to work in the fields. Is that a future we’re willing to have in the United States?
The only gun lobby is the millions of voluntary citizen members of the National Rifle Association, The Gun Owners of America, The Second Amendment Foundation and the 1000’s of state level, pro gun, groups and associations. All made up of folks like me and you. So make no mistake about it, when Hillary Clinton mentions fighting the gun lobby, she is talking about you. Republican, Democrat and Independent, law-abiding, hardworking, tax paying, mom & pop, gun owners.
A recent audit of a California database designed to keep track of known gang members in the state revealed that the watch list included the names of dozens of admitted gang members who are still in diapers. -- Proponents of efforts to prohibit gun ownership for people who end up on the federal government’s terror watch lists frame the proposals as no-brainers that will make all Americans safer. But what they never talk about is the inefficiency and downright inaccuracy of the government-maintained rosters that sometimes stand between citizens and basic rights.
President Barack Obama may be one of the most anti-2nd Amendment presidents the nation has seen—but he’s also unintentionally turned out to be one of the best advocates for gun ownership to set foot in the White House. If that sounds unbelievable, just look at the statistics.
It wasn’t too long ago in American history where teenagers were expected to take an active role in the defense of the property. We can sometimes forget that our nation was forged on the willingness of young men and women to defend themselves accordingly.
“This trend has been going on and will continue at least up to the elections in November, Americans are very worried about their personal safety and security at a time of both heightened terrorism, crime and calls for tougher gun controls including bans on many firearms and accessories by President Obama and candidate Hillary Clinton as well as the platform of the Democrat party,” he said.
The government’s top watchdog revealed in a new report that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) essentially maintained a database of law-abiding gun owners by ignoring its own policies. According to Government Accountability Office (GAO) auditors, ATF failed to remove the names of gun purchasers from its Multiple Sales (MS) database and another system called Access 2000 which allowed it to stockpile information on lawful gun owners by scouring the records of out of business federal firearms license holders.
Anti-2nd Amendment crusaders in Washington State and Oregon are looking to pass California-style gun control legislation with the goal of forming a “West Coast Wall” of draconian anti-firearm regulations along the Pacific coast. The effort is being spearheaded by the anti-2nd Amendment groups Washington CeaseFire and Ceasefire Oregon, both of which have lobbied heavily for stronger state and federal firearm laws for decades.
Despite that, somehow I doubt that the gun grabbers will have some kind revelation after reading about this murder spree in Japan. To them it will just be some random tragedy. But to those of us who care about our right to bear arms, it’s just additional proof that strict gun laws don’t stop evil people.
Open Carriers showed up, just as they promised. They did not bother anyone, they caused no trouble. They simply exercised their Constitutional rights. (And hey, no mass shootings took place either... strange!)
The number of background checks conducted during the Obama presidency is so high that it averages out to nearly 52,000 a day. That means, an average of 52,000 citizens a day go to a retail store to buy a gun, two guns, or even more.
Adolfo Rodriguez, 29, of Eugene, attempted to rob a concealed carrier at knifepoint while the man was out for an evening stroll with his wife. After Rodriguez pulled his knife, a heated verbal altercation took place and the man pulled his gun as a warning for Rodriguez to advance no further.
Governor Jerry Brown just gunned down the Constitution. He signed 6 of the Gunpocalypse bills that made their way to his desk yesterday. While he did veto 4, he signed the worst of the worst, which you can see below. I’ll be honest with you… today sucks. And it is probably demoralizing.
Following the tragic shooting in Orlando earlier this month, the South Carolina incident provides a prime example of how future mass shooting incidents could be stopped by putting an end to gun free zones.
In response to the Orlando nightclub mass shooting, the U.S. House Democrats are making fools of themselves in their sit-in filibuster, as they display their childishness and ignorance on the gun control issue. Their purely emotional calls for more gun control and denying guns to people whose names are placed on a no-fly list or a terrorist watch list without due process are thoroughly lacking in rational thought.
Mike Hagan, the owner of Hagan's, who as the Washington Post reports is a combat veteran who served in Afghanistan, is offering a promotion unlike any other: "Buy a car, get an AR." The promotion is being done in conjunction with a local firearms store that completes the required background checks. Car buyers who pass the background checks and subsequently receive the AR-15 will then just send Hagan the bill afterward. "We're giving these weapons away for responsible people that can lawfully obtain them and we're confident that they're going to maintain them responsibly" Hagan said of the program. The campaign has increased sales, and thus far it is reported that Hagan has given away four AR-15s and one 9mm handgun, which is offered if customers decline the rifle.
Cohen’s rant is just one example of an astonishing amount of sheer nonsense that has filled the Internet since the terrorist attack in Orlando. Anti-gun politicians, and so-called opinion columnists and TV talking heads – who pretend to be “experts” on every topic under the sun, but who in reality know virtually nothing about even one topic – are confidently calling the AR-15 an “automatic” weapon, a “military” weapon,” and a “weapon of war,” and telling everyone that the most popular rifle in America should be banned.
If the founding fathers had known this gun would have been invented, they wouldn’t have rewritten the Second Amendment—they would have fortified it in stone,” he says. “They knew the only way for us to stay free was by having whatever guns the bad guys have. This firearm gives average people the advantage they so desperately need and deserve to protect their life, liberty, and happiness.”
The vast majority of gun crimes are committed by gang bangers and criminals, many of whom are prohibited from possessing a gun under current laws. For the most part, they obtain their guns illegally: either on the black market or by theft. Those committing gun crimes with legitimately purchased weapons are rare outliers.
At the frontlines of the anti-firearm hysteria gripping the nation’s leftist urbanites are people who have no experience handling firearms. How do we know? Because they keep saying really stupid stuff about guns.
Hillary Clinton’s statement on the mass murder in Orlando is mostly a confection of the empty, saccharine pieties for which the entire American political class is known – but it concluded with a revealing statement.
On Thursday a federal appeals court in California ruled the Second Amendment does not permit Americans to carry firearms in public. The ruling upholds a California law that imposes strict rules on individuals who wish to exercise concealed carry. The California law requires applicants to demonstrate “good cause” for carrying a weapon.
Liberals are fond of pointing to the proliferation of firearms as cause for “school shootings” and “gun violence.” They’re less fond of being reminded that the most violent places in America are the urban slums of the cities with the strictest gun laws. Guns don’t have a causal relationship to crime; if they did, placid communities in places liberals fly over would be ghost towns. But “gun-free” zones and draconian gun laws do. Wear all the orange you want; just remember to wear black to the funerals.
It’s yet another case of guns saving lives. A homeowner turned the tables on a pair of home invaders wielding machetes Friday morning, quickly ending what could have been a really bad night for the homeowner.
This is a dangerous game New Jersey plays with the men and women in uniform who help protect this great country. Every single person in that judicial oversight ought be reprimanded for not only needlessly putting people in uniform in jeopardy but also denying a basic constitutional right afforded to nearly every other citizen throughout this country.
It’s yet another reason why women are one of the fastest growing demographics of up and coming concealed carriers. And it’s yet another reason why it’s important to train precisely how you intend to fight. Don’t be victim. Defend yourself.
Even more concerning than what the Obama administration may do in the coming months, Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton has repeatedly discussed the need for anti-firearm activists to attack gun businesses rather than the 2nd Amendment. She even talks about 2nd Amendment supporters as though they’re criminals.
