President Donald Trump declared Friday that an "eight-year assault" on Second Amendment rights had come to a "crashing end" with his election. "No longer will federal agencies be coming after law-abiding gun owners. No longer will the government be trying to undermine your rights and freedoms as Americans," Trump said during his speech to the National Rifle Association in Atlanta. -- "Instead we will work with you by your side," he said.
Two North Carolina girls, home alone, bravely fought off a group of home invaders that came by expecting easy pickings. One of the girls, a teenager, got a rifle and pointed it at the first guy to come in the door. All three home invaders realized there wasn’t nothing in the house worth dying over and fled the scene.
The trend is likely to continue as the 2016 presidential election season wears on, driven largely by fears over Hillary Clinton’s increasingly anti-2nd Amendment rhetoric and promises to reinstate the “assault weapons” ban if elected.
Cohen’s rant is just one example of an astonishing amount of sheer nonsense that has filled the Internet since the terrorist attack in Orlando. Anti-gun politicians, and so-called opinion columnists and TV talking heads – who pretend to be “experts” on every topic under the sun, but who in reality know virtually nothing about even one topic – are confidently calling the AR-15 an “automatic” weapon, a “military” weapon,” and a “weapon of war,” and telling everyone that the most popular rifle in America should be banned.
A Texas firing range offering free concealed handgun courses to members of the LGBT community has had to open several new classes after being inundated with requests for lessons. Owners of the Shiloh Gun Range on the outskirts of Houston say they’re doing their part to ensure their fellow Americans have the means to protect themselves following the tragedy that struck Orlando over the weekend.
Most of the mass killings by gun in the United States in recent years — Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora, Newtown, Charleston, San Bernardino and now Orlando — took place in venues where local or state law prohibited carrying guns, even by those lawfully licensed to do so. The government cheerfully calls these venues “gun-free zones.” They should be called killing zones.
There is NO evidence to support the assertion that law enforcement officers are put at risk by law-abiding citizens carrying concealed firearms in their car. There are no studies, even ones with twisted statistics, that draw this conclusion. How can that be? Because there is NO record of a law enforcement officers having been injured by a CCW permit holder during a traffic stop, anywhere in the 44 CCW states. We can, on the other hand, offer numerous examples of armed citizens coming to the aid of officers in peril...
We may debate the authors’ horrifying claim that doctors and hospitals kill a quarter million Americans every year, but there is no doubt that they do kill a substantial number. And that number is almost certainly far in excess of the number killed by gun-wielding criminals.
One salon owner wasn’t willing to give up her hard earned money without a fight. That’s the story coming out of Dayton after an attempted robbery was stopped by one woman with a gun. Dayton police are alleging that the robber in question may have been responsible for a string of other robberies in the nearby area. However, his string of crime definitely got stopped cold in its tracks.
Two guys were unloading a truck when a man walked up to them and announced a robbery. The robber probably thought he was in for a decent haul. And the fun fact about this case? The concealed carrier in question complied without issue — initially. The armed robber wanted his wallet and his cell phone, both of which he handed over. It was only when the robber asked for the car keys as well that the concealed carrier finally took action.
There are more than 70,000,000 firearms owners in the United States. We comprise the largest militia (U.S. Supreme Court Justice William B. Woods, 1886) force the world has ever seen. We outnumber the active duty US Army, Reserve and National Guard seventy times over. We also outnumber all the nation’s sworn law enforcement officers by the same amount. Given those numbers, why do we let the progressives and communists in our government dictate to us what we can legitimately do with our firearms? It is absolutely ridiculous.
Love them or hate them, large crowds cannot always be avoided and they have inherent dangers ranging from pickpockets to riots. It’s good to be prepared for those dangers and keep in mind crowd safety. You just need to use your head in order to stay ahead of the game, so to speak.
If you need to restock on ammunition or other firearm supplies, there’s no better time to buy than right now. That’s according to a firearm industry insider who says political uncertainty driven by the election year could cause ammunition and firearm shortages.
Security lighting is the best preventative measure that you can take for home security. This may include outdoor motion lights or other such lighting for burglary deterrence and nighttime security purposes.
Three blind mice, three blind mice. See how they run, see how they run… Three home invaders in Pitt County were met with armed resistance when they broke in through the back screen porch of a trailer home of a couple and their newborn. Thankfully, the father was able to get to his revolver in time to return fire after they stormed in with a shotgun.
To begin the discussion of defending against an ostensibly unarmed attacker, we must first understand the need to recognize an attack. Both police and civilians face this dilemma, but police are given more training in reading body language and responding than are most civilians. Few people can beat a drawn gun or a thrown punch. We must learn always to understand where we are, what we are doing, and what is going on around us.
There are currently “221,712 active permit holders” in Minnesota. The Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance (GOCRA) says this means “the number of active carry permits in the state has grown by more than 20,000 in six months” so that “about one in 19 eligible Minnesota adults have a permit to carry.” Violent crime rate: 234.4 per 100,000 (9th lowest) > Murder and non negligent manslaughter rate: 2.1 per 100,000 (10th lowest) > Median household income: $60,702 (9th highest) > 2014 unemployment rate: 4.1% (6th lowest) Overall the state ranks in the top 5 or top 10 for "most peaceful states" according to numerous sources.
The first intruder made it out the door and died immediately in the yard. The second was ferried away by his getaway driver, who later dumped him off like old baggage in the parking lot of a nearby Zaxby’s.... -- ZAXBY'S, What a place to die...
We have been warning our readers about the need to be prepared – for nuclear or biological attacks, attacks on the electrical grid or for natural disasters — and have a plan and stockpile for any conceivable contingency for years.... And we’ve often been called a crank and a crackpot because of it. Of course preparedness means far more than knowing what to do and what not to do in case of a nuclear attack, which is all NBC tells you.
Despite that, somehow I doubt that the gun grabbers will have some kind revelation after reading about this murder spree in Japan. To them it will just be some random tragedy. But to those of us who care about our right to bear arms, it’s just additional proof that strict gun laws don’t stop evil people.
"The recent surge in gun buying is based on two variables: fear of government intrusion on 2nd Amendment rights, and, more importantly, people interested in personal protection," he said. "This is likely the beginning of a long rise in gun sales leading up the election. Should Hillary Clinton take a significant lead, it will only boost these sales."
On Thursday a federal appeals court in California ruled the Second Amendment does not permit Americans to carry firearms in public. The ruling upholds a California law that imposes strict rules on individuals who wish to exercise concealed carry. The California law requires applicants to demonstrate “good cause” for carrying a weapon.
It’s yet another case of guns saving lives. A homeowner turned the tables on a pair of home invaders wielding machetes Friday morning, quickly ending what could have been a really bad night for the homeowner.
This incident proves, just as did the Arapahoe High School shooting in Centennial, Colorado in 2013 and the Madison Jr./Sr. High School shooting in Butler Co., Ohio earlier this year, having an armed presence on the scene when the attack begins can drastically reduce the attacker’s ability to carry out his plans.
Rhode Island legislators are patting themselves on the back after drawing yet one more fictitious line in the sand around the safety and security of children in Rhode Island schools. Of the 3,600 legally registered concealed carriers in the State of Rhode Island, a new bill would effectively stop any of them from legally coming to the aid of their own children in the event of a mass shooting or similarly related terrorist event.
It’s not clear if Fresh Market will post legally required signs banning concealed or open carry from their stores. If not, like Starbucks and many others, their “request” doesn’t carry the force of law. Which means their “ban” is just touchy-feely PC security theater designed “to ensure a welcoming environment where our customers and employees feel safe, and treat one another with kindness and respect while shopping and working.” And allow Shannon and her hoplophobic harridans to claim another “victory” for gun sense. How great is that?
Let’s not get too crazy here, but there are things that every person, who is carrying a firearm, should be doing in preparation for daily carry. It’s something that should never be taken lightly, and we should be doing all we can to be a proficient and safe as we possibly can.
Staying ready and able, even at home, means keeping your handgun accessible. In one of these situations, there really is no middle ground. The assailant shot the lock off the door of the apartment. It is pretty obvious he intended his actions. As for the woman, she unfortunately had to see the other occupant get murdered and eventually critically injure some man she knew previously. -- That’s a heck of an alarm clock to start the day.
In a hasty move this week, the Supreme Court gutted liberal arguments that the 2nd Amendment was only intended to protect the American right to bear primitive firearms like the muskets in common use at the time of its writing.
This concealed carrier managed to successfully defend herself and her property without firing a shot. That’s the best we can ever hope for. And it’s a reminder to always keep your situational awareness with active scanning whenever exiting out into a shopping plaza.
Crime statistics for Black women have always been higher for Black women than any other race of women in American. Sisters are now exercising their Second Amendment Right, and leveling the playing field.
Details of the situation are few, however Dallas Police do not intend to file any charges against the resident. Lt. Latoya Porter commented on the situation simply by saying, “The subject was attempting to burglarize the location with a shotgun when he was confronted, shot, and killed by the resident.”
Shooting at paper targets is great; it’s going to help your accuracy, your muscle memory, and it’s a hell of a lot of fun. Unfortunately, when it comes to real-world self-defense those paper targets aren’t preparing you for the stressful realities of what it really takes to draw your weapon in defense.
For concealed carriers, this is a reminder that it doesn’t matter what job we’re performing — violent, idiotic people can pop up at any time and demand things that aren’t theirs. It’s your job to ensure you stay safe.
Yes, Gun Free Zones suck because they are ineffective. Worse yet, they suck because they actually attract the worst sort of violent criminals. The scum cowards who perpetrate mass murders choose Gun Free Zones because they know they can rule that area of real estate for ten, twenty, or thirty minutes, completely unopposed.
